Trail running started for me because I simply love being out in nature. Running in beautiful places has been deeply therapeutic, and it didn’t take long for the trails to become more than just a place to train. My favorite distance is the 100K—it’s the perfect mix of endurance and speed. For me, trail running is so much more than running. It’s a way to express myself through movement. Some of my best thoughts happen on the trails, and without it, I just don’t feel like myself.

Outside of running, I spend time with my wife and our three dogs. My running philosophy is simple: running has to stay fun. I love working hard and seeing what I can get out of myself, but sometimes I need to step back and remember why I do this—because it’s fun. When a race, a long run, or a workout gets hard, I tell myself, “I get to do this.” That mantra keeps me grounded and grateful.

My most memorable race experience was the Gorge Waterfalls 100K this year. I planned to start conservative and work my way up throughout the day. It ended up being one of the most fun races I’ve had—I finished on the podium in a competitive field and earned a nice payday. But more than the result, it reminded me why I love this sport: the challenge, the community, and the joy of pushing myself in beautiful places.

Trail running keeps me connected to who I am. It’s where I think clearly, move freely, and feel most alive. As long as it stays fun, I’ll keep showing up for the trails.
