July Event Preview: Overview Of Major Trail Running Events Around The World
July, the height of summer, is the most spectacular and intensive highlight in the global trail running calendar. As the snow in high-latitude and high-altitude areas completely melts, many classic mountain tracks are open to runners, making this whole month a golden window for trail running enthusiasts around the world to "go mountaineering". Major events have come on stage, not only providing runners with important opportunities to challenge their limits and obtain UTMB points, but also bringing opportunities to deeply connect with different landforms, cultures and runner communities around the world.
In the Spanish Pyrenees, Val d’Aran by UTMB® fired the "first shot" of the European trail running summer season - this is one of the three major events in the UTMB World Series in Europe. The event is large in scale, difficult to finish, and has high points. It is the main battlefield of the year for many elite runners. The Restonica Trail in Corsica, France, the Verbier Saint Bernard Trail in Switzerland, and the Monte Rosa WalserWaeg in Italy, which were held almost at the same time, impressed every runner with their unique local terrain, technical routes and scenery. Among these events, some are famous for long distance + high altitude, some focus on technical climbing and route navigation, and some have become the "annual pilgrimage" in the hearts of runners because of their long history and strong community atmosphere.
The trail running events in July are not only a competition, but also a collective carnival of global trail culture. The official UTMB event system is also densely arranged this month, which means that whether you are an elite runner who is going to Chamonix or a novice enthusiast who accumulates "Running Stones", you can find your own target event during this period.

In July, when we headed to the mountains, we saw not only the event itself, but also the vigorous operation of the global trail running ecosystem. High-level runners competed for elite points here, while grassroots runners built confidence in completing their first 100-kilometer race; event organizers continuously optimized routes and supplies, and brand manufacturers also used this opportunity to promote technological innovation and environmental protection concepts. Trail running is gradually moving from a niche challenge to a comprehensive sport that emphasizes cross-cultural communication, ecological protection, and physical and mental healing.
Looking back at the list of events this month, it is not difficult to find that the development trend of global trail running is becoming more diverse: the route settings are more challenging, the participants are more international, and the event experience also pays more attention to community connection and cultural immersion. For runners, this is not only a test of physical fitness and willpower, but also a journey to broaden the boundaries of cognition. You may decide to travel to the next stop because of the scenery of a track, or you may meet like-minded partners on the way and start a new training cycle.
If you have already selected your target event, I wish you to go all out and achieve transcendence. If you are still waiting or planning your next stop, please continue to pay attention to our subsequent training suggestions, equipment recommendations and post-race recovery strategies to help you run farther, see more and feel more deeply. July is just the starting point, and the excitement of the mountains and wilderness continues.
