Running for the Love of the Mountains

For Patrik, this race wasn't about ranking or chasing time. "I didn't have any particular goal to get a good placement," he recalls. "I'd been dealing with a recurring ankle pain and had to train carefully. But the pain was gone before race day — and I just wanted to experience the beauty of the mountains."

Despite the cautious mindset, Patrik conquered the 70km course in 12 hours and 39 minutes, finishing 244th out of 891 runners — a remarkable performance considering the challenges along the way.

    Moments that Defined the Race

The toughest part came during the steep climb up to Cabana Wildstrubel, almost 3,000 meters above sea level. "It was brutal," he says, "but reaching the top and seeing the panorama — it's amazing what the human mind and body can do."

The finish line brought the most emotional moment of all. "My wife was waiting for me. I hugged her and just started crying. It was one of the hardest things I've ever done — but also the most beautiful. This race gave me everything an ultra can give."

    Lessons from the Trail

When asked what Wildstrubel taught him, Patrik smiles:

"Listen to your body. Even after tough weeks, if you feel better and approach it smartly, you can do it. This race proved it."

He also shared a simple yet vital piece of advice for future runners:

"Fill up your soft flasks at every opportunity — even from the mountain springs. The water is crystal clear!"

    Haimont Gear: Comfort Meets Confidence

Throughout the race, Patrik relied on two key pieces from Haimont — the Mountain Wind Trail T-Shirt and the 8L Race Vest.

"The T-shirt kept me cool and ventilated the whole day — it was really hot, and I sweat a lot. The vest was simply amazing," he says. "We didn't have a drop bag, so I had to carry all mandatory gear plus my own nutrition. Everything fit perfectly, and I never felt uncomfortable."

What stood out most was the confidence his gear gave him.

"When I was feeling a little down, I looked at the Haimont logo and thought, 'I'm running for a brand that trusts me.' That thought gave me strength. It reminded me how hard I've worked for this — and that it's no time for weakness, only to push onward."

The Spirit of Rock n' Roll

Patrik's mantra for the race says it all:

    "Rock n' Roll!"

To the Haimont community, he leaves a message inspired by determination and heart:

"If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything." — George McFly
